Poetry, spoke word open mic benefits Haiti program

The Young Professionals, “TYP,” hosts charity event entitled “Words For A Cause” on Saturday May 19 from 6 to 8p.m. It is a spoken word/ open mic night featuring local poets and spoken word artists who will showcase their talents. The event will take place at St. Angela’s church hall located at 1548 Blue Hill Avenue in Mattapan. Admission is $5.00 per person and refreshments will be served. The program that TYP has selected to receive a portion of the proceeds from this event will be the Education Through Empowerment Camp, E.T.E. This camp was established in 2009 by Shaina Gilbert and her family, who are members of St. Angela’s Parish. E.T.E focuses the crucial need to provide quality education for the children of Haiti. The members of E.T.E. Camp have traveled to Haiti for the past three years and have personally taught over 100 youth participants in these years. We look forward to supporting this initiative’s fourth consecutive year serving the youth of Haiti. Contact: Sherley Armand Phone: 617-980-5237 Email: typrofessionals@gmail.com
